The Snuggle Squad (Cuddler Program)

Our Snuggle Squad (NICU cuddler program) trains volunteers to hold, rock, and cuddle babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, when their parents are not able to be at bedside. With your permission, a cuddler can hold your baby while you are away from the hospital.

  • Cuddling has proven benefits for babies in the NICU, including: supporting growth, brain development, and meeting milestones. Cuddling can also reduce the length of the NICU stay for some babies

  •  We teach and train volunteer cuddlers how to safely hold and comfort babies in the NICU.

  • Nursing staff supervises cuddlers.

  • Volunteers will cuddle your baby, with your permission only. A nurse will ask you if you would like to participate in the program early in your baby’s stay.

We hope the NICU Cuddler Program gives your baby extra cuddles and gives you

peace of mind while you are away from the NICU.

If you have questions, please ask a member of the NICU Care Team.
