Magseed Placement: Patient Instructions
You have just had a Magseed placement in the Breast Imaging Department. This allows us to precisely target the area of breast tissue that will be removed during your upcoming surgery.
These are your post-procedure instructions:
-
You may have bruising and tenderness in your breast over the next few days. This is common. Wear a supportive bra (or sports bra) to reduce bruising and swelling.
-
In case of bleeding from the puncture site, take a clean tissue or gauze and press it firmly on the site.
-
You may take acetaminophen (Tylenol®) for breast discomfort. Follow package instructions.
-
Follow your surgeon’s instructions about all medications, including any blood-thinning medications.
-
Remove any adhesive dressing if the area feels sensitive.
-
You can shower the day after this procedure. Do not take tub baths or go swimming for the next 4 days.
-
If you have any questions or concerns, please call 212-731-5885 (Manhattan) or 917-536-9240 (Brooklyn).
-
Please call your surgeon’s office if you notice bleeding, have a fever of 100.3° F (37.9° C) or higher and / or redness, itching or swelling around the procedure site.
-
Your surgeon’s surgical scheduling coordinator will give you additional scheduling details as you get closer to your surgery date.
